Club History The Regency Bridge Club was founded in the late 1960s . We have had several owners, four locations and many players. Such notables as Hermine Baron frequented our club. Pat Abbey began playing at the Regency in the 1970s, buying the club periodically when it needed leadership and then selling it. Around the year 2000, Pat became the permanent owner and manager, working tirelessly to maintain our club. Pat’s enthusiasm for bridge was contagious, and her gifts as a teacher helped many to embrace the game. After Pat’s unexpected passing, we renamed ourselves the Pat Abbey Regency Bridge Club. We remember Pat for her wit, intelligence, warmth, and generosity of spirit. We continue to emulate Pat’s dedication to serious bridge (but not too serious) among friendly people. In 2013, after losing our Glenoaks lease, we moved to the Glendale YMCA, and subsequently to our new home, the Glendale Adult Recreation Center. Pat Abbey is circled in green in the photograph below.
